Welcome to All About DIY Flooring, home to some of the internet's most beautiful vinyl flooring solutions for your home. Vinyl flooring is a fantastic compromise for anyone who wants the beautifully natural aesthetics of a stone or wooden floor without the drawbacks.
Slate and stone floors look great and can add a real elegance to any home but in reality are not at all practical in many homes. Tiles can be very cold underfoot as well as the fact they are so hard means anything dropped on them is liable to break. Not ideal in most situations especially if you have children in your home.
Similarly wood flooring looks great but can often be very noisy underfoot, much like laminate flooring.
In 2007, following development of new innovative designs and finishing technologies, the opportunity to make vinyl into a floating floor system, as an alternative to laminate flooring, was born.
Vinyl conjures up ideas of 1970s lino flooring, but apart from the name, this vinyl is totally different. This vinyl is comfortable underfoot, very soft, quiet and easy to clean, whereas laminate tends to be colder, harder, noisier and often streaks when cleaned. This vinyl is also impervious to water whereas laminate has always had an inherent problem with moisture or water in that it is made from MDF. Plus this vinyl is more customer friendly with new exciting finishes, like deep etched wood grains and stone reproductions.
